Popular content creator and influencer, Chinonso Jennifer Ukah, better known as Nons Miraj has addressed the allegations stating that she exploited viral fish pie seller for social media clout.
The fish pie seller, whose real name is Alax Elvasam, quickly rose to fame, captivating everyone with his iconic serenade. His viral journey started on June 3, 2024, with a video showcasing his fish pie business.
This newfound fame reportedly attracted immense attention, including financial aid, gifts, and business opportunities. A key boost to his popularity came from skit maker Nons Miraj, who shared a video of her visit to Alax in his modest slum home
On September 29, 2024, Nons Miraj disclosed that she had moved Alax into a rented apartment, bought him a car, and gifted him N200,000. Alax also landed a deal with Eko Hotels and Suites, one of Nigeria’s top luxury hotels, where he performed as a stand-up comedian.
Just six months after his viral rise, Alax, who had since faded from the spotlight, reflected on the generosity he received. In a recent interview with Mr Kasa, Alax revealed that he was taken advantage of, explaining that none of the monetary gifts were given to him.
He said, “The rumours that they gave me N10 million, N5 million, and more are untrue. The truth is, many of these people took advantage of me. If they had given me all that money, I’m a businessman and would have used it to stock my shop. But if you visit my shop now, it’s empty, and there are no goods. I haven’t even launched the shop due to one issue or another.”
Although Alax did not mention names of the people who used him, his revelation captured attention of Nons Miraj, who clarified the air in a new video.
In the video, Miraj dared Alax to call out names of people that took advantage of him, stating that he cannot spoil her brand because he would not be the first person she helped.
She insisted that the car, house, clothes, and other gifts she displayed on social media were delivered to him and he is still making use of them.
In her words, “So I’m making this video for fish pie guy. I have been seeing videos of you saying that some people used you, so I think I owe this to my fans and friends. Please I need you to do me a favour like I’ve done favour to you. Come out and clarify the air of who you used you. Me I’m not a user. I need you to mention names of people that did not help you. The car I bought I gave you, the documents are still with you. The house, you are still living there, I came to your house and met battalion of people.”
“The clothes and groceries, everything I showed online were given to you. Please do not spoil my brand because you did not want to mention names. Don’t let me regret that I helped you. Is it until I give you my life till you know that I helped you. Among all the people I helped, you are the most helped. Na you chop my money pass.”
