Legendary Afrobeats icon, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, has confirmed the collapse of his nearly 13-year marriage to Annie Idibia, leaving fans shocked and heartbroken.
Despite enduring numerous controversies over the years, the couple now faces their most challenging chapter.
On Sunday, January 26, 2Baba revealed on social media that they have been living separately for some time and are now in the process of filing for divorce.
2Baba wrote;
“Hello to my beautiful people of all FEDERATIONS. WELL THIS THING I HAVE TO SAY IS SHORT BUT ALSO LONG…. I AND ANNIE MACAULAY HAVE BEEN SEPARATED FOR A WHILE NOW. AND CURRENTLY FILED DIVORCE…
“I WOULD GRANT A PRESS RELEASE SOON TO SAY MY STORY..NOT BECAUSE IT IS ANYONE’S RIGHT TO KNOW ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE; BUT BECAUSE I LOVE MY PEOPLE AND I NEED THEM TO KNOW MY INNOCENCE OR OFFENSE. STAY BLESSED MY PEOPLE. I LOVE YOU ALL.”
He assured fans that he would disclose the full details behind their breakup at a later time, keeping many on edge and eager for answers.
However, the revelation of their long-standing separation has left many puzzled, especially after a video surfaced showing 2Baba and Annie together at comedian AY Makun’s estranged wife’s mother’s funeral party on December 29, 2024.
The couple was seen entering the venue hand in hand, presenting a united front. In a particularly intimate moment, they posed closely for a body-to-body selfie with Mabel, standing together in mourning.
Their undeniable chemistry in the video has left many questioning how a couple that seemed so connected just weeks ago could now be on the brink of divorce.
