What I’ve Been Going Through – Chigul Reveals Pain She’s Been Facing (Watch)

Navigating the different phases of womanhood is no small feat, and Nigerian comedian Chigul is making sure to share her experience, of course, with humor and honesty. Known for her witty takes on everyday struggles, Chigul recently opened up about the harsh realities of perimenopause—a phase that marks the transition to menopause and comes with a wave of symptoms, including hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances.

In a lighthearted yet relatable rant, Chigul lamented the unexpected and overwhelming impact perimenopause has had on her daily life.

Speaking about the grueling experience of perimenopause on her, Chigul said:

CHIGUL: Uwanileeeeeeee…..AFT….PERIMENOPAUSE OHHHHH. I needed to ask the Lord some questions….I NOW IDENTIFY AS AIR…AT LEAST FOR NOW #perimenopausehealth #iamtired

Perimenopause is doing me evil things.

See, Lord, when you said to Eve, you said she will have problems having children, that’s punishment. You didn’t say she will have problems living her daily life. You didn’t say there will come a time when she will be hot when others are cold and vice versa. You didn’t say that!

I’m done. I’m not doing it again. I’m not. I now identify as air. I identify as breath. My pronouns are woosh, my pronouns are woosh, I’m not here again.

How can somebody sitting like me have six fans directed in my direction? Why? Who says so? I have pains in places I didn’t know I could pain. Pain just arrived. Just one day, pain. Sleep. I’m not sleeping. Oh!

Chigul’s honest and hilarious take on perimenopause resonated with many, as women going through the same struggles flooded her comment section with support and shared experiences.

Nigerian actress Beverly Osu responded to the post writing, “😍😍😂😂😂 it’s crazy, don’t know if it’s the shirt or what you are saying I agree with but both Hoods are crazy … Adulthood and womanhood 🙈” while another person who is also in Chigul’s shoes wrote saying, “I can relate, not an easy phase in our lives at all but we will get through it. I take vitamins E, D & K, they have helped tremendously. Wishing all the sisters out there going through this phase the best😍

Perimenopause is often an overlooked stage in women’s health discussions, yet it affects millions worldwide, bringing about drastic hormonal shifts that impact both the body and mind. By bringing humor into the conversation, Chigul not only normalizes these struggles but also creates a space where women can openly talk about the challenges of aging without shame or embarrassment.

As more women continue to share their experiences, conversations like this remind us of the importance of awareness, support, and self-care during this stage of life. Whether it’s through lifestyle changes, medical intervention, or just a good laugh, getting through perimenopause is definitely easier when women lift each other up.
